MatScouts Crystal Ball projected 2027 NCAA top 15 (Willie Saylor), mid-summer update

Oklahoma State is closing the gap, fast. Last March they put three true freshmen on top of the podium: Jax Forrest at 133, Sergio Vega at 141 and Landon Robideau at 157. All three are back from a team that finished second with 131 points.

In the age of the portal, OSU is winning with recruiting, coming off the number one recruiting class in the country. It's hard to repeat as an NCAA champion, but Forrest, Vega and Robideau will all be in the mix again. Add one or two from that class (looking at you, Dreshaun Ross) and you're talking about four or five potential national champions, all underclassmen.

Here's what's crazy. That still might not be enough. Penn State won it by 50 points. But circle 149. Vega is moving up, and Vega vs. Bo Bassett might be the best individual matchup of the year: one of the most offensive wrestlers in the sport against a guy who has never given up a takedown in college.
